How Many Dog Steps In A Mile? It Depends On The Dog's Size.

➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖   ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ I often hear a ' Dogtopia ' commercial on ' Sirius XM ' where a claim is made that 'your dog will walk 8 miles a day' & that is equivalent to 70,000 steps (or thereabouts). That got me curious. I walk at least 8 miles each day (without fail). I know my step count for those 8 miles is around 16,200 to 16,400. Yes, at my height & age, I average around 2,000 (or slightly) more steps per mile. I immediately knew that a dog's step count would depend on its SIZE. I was right. Yes, a very small dog, close to the ground, would walk 70,000 steps to cover 8 miles. But, the steps get less, much less, for bigger dogs. That makes sense. I am sure my Newfie doesn't do 70,000 steps when she walks 8 miles with me. No, she, now 5 years old, doesn't stray far from me. So, the distance she walks is within +/- 10% of mine. Now, I am COOL. I just needed to sort this out in my head. Some of you may h...

'Substack' Is Arbitrary, Authoritarian & ERRATIC. I Am DONE.

Two days ago, with NO EXPLANATION whatsoever (or an e-mail), ' Substack ' just arbitrarily suspended account for SUPPOSED violations of their ' Spam & Phishing ' policy. Everything I publish on Substack is LISTED on my Facebook page . There is NOTHING even close to spamming let alone phishing. I don't do either. Then today, with no explanation, the suspension is magically lifted. Doesn't make sense. Their suspensions are supposed to be for 5 days. So they must have realized that they screwed up. Well, I am DONE. Well & truly done. Screw 'Substack'.

A 'New York Times' Article On Potential War Crimes Was Written By A 'Mr. Savage' -- That Amused Me.

Link to ' The New York Times ' article by ' Charles Savage '. ➖➖➖➖➖➖ As some of you know, I like names & pay attention to them. I am familiar with the surname ' Savage '. For a start one of the prominent early settlers in what is now the ' Acadia ' area (of Maine) was a 'Savage'. So, a hill, south of the now Park used to be called " Savages Hill ". So, there is NOTHING wrong with ' Savage ' as a name. Just one that has connotations.  I wonder what it must be like to grow up a ' Savage '. Couldn't be easy. So, I have much respect for those with that name. Just struck me as AMUSING that we have a 'Savage' writing about War Crimes. Actually a DECENT article. The name just made me smile. Cheers.😊

I Had Forgotten About 'Rastafarians' Until I Watched The New 'Bob Marley' Movie.

Wikipedia link . ' IMDb.com ' listing for movie . ➖  ➖  ➖  ➖ Wow. Hit me like a speeding truck. I had totally forgotten/lost sight of ' Rastafarians '. Basically, I can't last remember when I saw Rastafarian colors -- wristband, headband, hat, scarf, etc. I would have remembered. Rastafarians were BIG in the 1970s when I lived in Britain. Bob Marley & I were contemporaries, in Britain, until his death. I was also exposed to 'Rasta' color through my then ardent following of the 'West Indies' cricket team. A number of players, in the 1970s, wore Rasta colors -- usually in the form of a wristband. I am very partial to Jamaican cuisine & like the spirit/spunk of Jamaicans. Thus, I frequent places that sell Jamaican food and try and socialize with Jamaicans. Many of Bar Harbor, Maine, and Burlington, Vermont, hotels are run by Jamaicans. So I have seen quite a few, quite often. But I don't recall seeing any Rasta colors or mention of Rasta bel...
