| Click to ENLARGE. From my old blog (now archived). < > < > < > < > < > Appears Google did not think it was worth the bother to do a Google Doodle for Sri Lanka for the 2025 Independence Day. A bit callous. Doing Doodles for Sri Lanka does not seem to be a high priority for Google. Kind of surprises me because because there must me hundreds, if not thousands, of Sri Lankans that work at Google. In 2012, I e-mailed Google requesting a Doodle for Independence Day. They honored my request the following year. There was much excitement & joy in Sri Lanka that year. Folks loved the Doodle and recognition. As you can see from the topmost graphic, Google didn't follow up the next year, i.e., 2014, or in 2016. In 2015 it did an animated fireworks graphic with no symbol identifying Sri Lanka. But, folks loved that too. Then they started calling it 'National Day'. It was never National Day in Sri Lanka. Always Independence Day. Plus, they got lazy. Recycling the same one year after year. And now in 2025 -- NADA! I checked on the Sri Lankan Google (google.lk) plus the Doodle Library. Nada. Rude. I kind of have a vested interest SINCE I started it. 😇 So I like to keep track. 😇 Now you can too. 😇 |
