Pope Francis: 2nd OLDEST KNOWN Pope, 55th LONGEST Known Reign, 2nd Pope To Die On 'April 21' Or A Jubilee Year.

Pope Francis became the 2nd OLDEST KNOWN pope in mid-November 2024, when he went past being 87.83. He died aged 88.34. He is comfortably in SECOND PLACE -- albeit among known. We only know the ages of popes since 1400! So there are over 200 popes whose ages we do NOT know. So, we can't get too excited about this 2nd oldest. 2nd oldest known.

We had better data on papal reigns, but again we have some that we can't be spot on. So we have to guess them as being '12 years' or '13 years' etc. Hence the 'KNOWN' once more.

55th LONGEST known reign, i.e., papacy.

He missed 54th place by 6-days!

2nd pope to die on April 21. The other being Alexander II (1061-1073).

The only other pope to die during a Jubilee Year was Innocent XII (1691-1700).
