I guess I had, prior to this, NOT seen the two juxtapositioned.
When I saw that War Memorial (above) I was TRANSFIXED. I had to STOP the movie & gawk at it.
WOW. There has goto be TONS of symbolism.
I just looked it up. Yes, during medieval times the symbolism was known & exploited. You can appreciate that -- at once. A sword of that shape must provide the bearer with protection.
I will do a post about the movie, i.e., 'The Last Rifleman', soon -- when I get the time. Very British. I liked it. But, seeing this Cross was a highlight.
