NO, it wasn't my 1st trip there. It was my second -- in 3 years.
Yes, it is true that I have over the last few years spent a lot of time in this vicinity -- Hudson River Valley, Lake Champlain & Lake Placid.
I must QUICKLY add one caveat. I am fond of 'Lake George' in the OFF SEASON. I do NOT think I will be able to abide it during THE season. I hear it is packed. I don't like crowds. I am allergic to crowds.
What really appealed to me on this last trip was the VERY PROFOUND TRANQUILITY!
It was unreal. Uncanny.
I am no stranger to peace & quiet.
I live on a dirt road & have lived on dirt roads for much of the last 40 years.
I go to 'Acadia' in February when I don't see a soul for hours at a time.
All that said, I have never EXPERIENCED the deep -- very deep -- QUIETNESS & PEACE that I saw at Lake George.
I think it was atmospheric & it had to have had something with the Lake absorbing sounds.
Yes, the place was deserted with amazingly very little traffic. The lack of people & activity certainly was a factor.
I was deeply moved. It was so, so peaceful.
So, at the moment I feel that it must be my 2nd most favorite place in the world.
Acadia is NOT #1. It is #3. SMILE.
😇
