'New Bedford' (Mass.) Is QUITE The Place -- Historic, Scentic, Bustling & 'Friendly'.

I just got back (late last night) after three delightful & memorable days in 'New Bedford'. My first time there & with luck hopefully the first of many. It is a tad too crowded & busy for my usual tastes but I can put up with that given all that is there. Plus, I now know my way around (at least in terms of getting to the central (& quite inexpensive) parking garage on 'Elm Street'.

It was a place I had wanted to visit for many years. I knew its history when it came to whaling. Glad I went. Just loved the 'whaling museum'. That alone was worth the visit. But the whole place is basically a living museum ... & there are quite a few actual museums at that, i.e., National Historical Park, Fishing Museum, Art Museum etc. I am a museum addict. I had a ball.

Didn't realize the Black History of the town, e.g., that it was Frederick Douglass' 'hometown'.

I should have read up on the City before I visited. I will make up for that. I now have a good idea of what more I want to see & explore.

And the beaches, forts & parks all around. Yes, I hit quite a few of those too. I don't waste any time on these Bucket List trips.

I have a ton of photos. I will try and post more if time permits.

Definitely recommend it as a place to visit. Just make sure you have plenty of time. Three days wasn't enough!
