Of course it was GOOD.

It is always good. That goes without saying. As far as I am concerned ALL 'Cambridge' 'REVELS', by definition, are GOOD -- magical. They have the midas touch (plus a boatload of talent & experience).

My year is not complete until I see Revels. That I now did. At my daughter's suggestion I now go to the last show of the year. I used to go as close to Winter Solstice as possible, but I like going to the last show too. That is what I did -- yesterday. Dec. 28, 2024 -- the last show.

Yes, I will confess, & it is well known, that I like 'traditional' Revels -- i.e., Christmas themed set in a stately manor (ideally British). But, I also know that Cambridge Revels likes to mix it up & that is good. So this year we got a lovely exposure to 'Cabo Verde' (Cape Verde) traditions. A couple of the songs were MAGIC. Very catchy. Funnily enough, I also got exposed to Cape Verde traditions during my November trip to 'New Bedford'. So this was good. I can't wait for the customary Revels THANK YOU video -- which, with luck, will include bits from these songs.

This show was slightly different. 😇 I think they were trying, even more than usual, to be ultra politically correct and send a 'DEI' message. I think that managed that.

The 'show' is evolving. I 'know' that that is intentional. Of course it is THEIR prerogative. But this year there was NO sword dance nor the "Abbots Bromley" horn dance. Those are two elements that I particularly like. I missed that. But, again ... their right.

It was good. Always a GREAT, friendly crowd. I had fun.

Thank you. 😇
