These, of course, weren't the main news items of the day. 'Mike Johnson' trying to hold onto his Speakership of the U.S. House of Representatives took up much of today's news bandwidth.

But, I am an unashamed News Junkie. I listen to/watch a lot of news. I listen to quite a bit of U.K. 'BBC News' in the morning -- during my daily, 4-mile amble (which takes close to 2 hours because I amble leisurely).

I heard all four of these news stories on BBC. They intrigued me.

>> The Prime Minister of Thailand owns 217 designer handbags worth $2 million. 'Imelda Marcos' (who was a close friend of my adoptive father) had upwards of 1,600 pairs of shoes. Not sure they were worth $2 million. That is a lot of handbags.

>> Why two Indians would set themselves on fire to PROTEST the LONG AWAITED REMOVAL of waste from the 'Union Carbide' DISASTER in 'Bhopal' makes no sense. Yes, there is a LOT WRONG with everything that happened ... But, why set fire to yourself in protest? I am glad that they did NOT die. Indians! I will never understand them.

>> That kids were asked to draw murals on the walls surrounding the Barbados Parliament to beautify it -- and one boy drew a cricket scene -- brought a smile to my face. That is cool. I am fond of Barbados.

>> I was also OVERJOYED to heard about 'Microsoft' and the one remaining/active 'Three Mile Island' nuclear plant. I am a HUGE believer & fan of nuclear power. So this also made me very happy. We have to get back to nuclear FAST & BIG TIME. Nuclear power is THE FUTURE.

I wanted to share these stories with you. I hope you find them somewhat interesting -- even if it isn't as much as I did.
