What Would 'Nelson Mandela' Do Re. Illegal Miners Trapped In Gold Mine In South Africa?

Have you heard about this?

All these miners trapped, DEAD and dying in a previously abandoned gold mine in South Africa.

As is so often the case, I only came to know about this because I listen to the half-hourly news on 'BBC Radio' multiple times a day -- in the morning & at night. I get SO MUCH world news -- and esoteric U.S. news -- from them. They are, of course, the BEST in the world.

They have been reporting a lot about these illegal miners.

I, as I often do, see BOTH sides of this.

They are ILLEGAL -- & I am always fond of saying 'illegal' means it is 'illegal'.

But this is also an humanitarian issue -- a crisis, a tragedy.

I know more about South Africa than most. I kind of follow what happens there & have done so since the late 1970s.

Thus, I fully appreciate that LIFE in South Africa, even today, is not the same as in other countries. They have been through a lot -- too much. Millions of lives lost. So, I understand that things are different there.

But, this is 'wrong'. Even I can see that.

I really do wonder what Mandela would have done.

He was a GOOD MAN. He was a GREAT MAN. One of my heroes and examples.

So, I ask: 'What would Mandela' have done?
