I can so relate to this movie.
As some of you may know by now I have a daughter who was diagnosed as being 'ASD' (i.e., 'on the spectrum') when she was 15. That we didn't know EARLIER is the ONLY regret I have. She is high-functioning. Most folks will never know, never realize.
From the time she was 1-year old I used to say that there was something that was not right. We were told that it was just sensory issues. Then when she was 15. BANG!
If we knew earlier we could have helped her so, so much more. I feed guilty. I feel I let her down.
So, I relate with this Dad -- like you would not believe.
We can SO RELATE to the behavior. Wow.
So, seeing another kid portray behavioral issues we are familiar with is 'heartening'? Just make me feel we are NOT alone -- & I know we are NOT.
In the movie there is one statement that had me SPELLBOUND.
Ezra does not -- is NOT able -- to LIE.
DITTO when it comes to my daughter. I used to tell that to her teachers. She does NOT lie! Wow. That just blew me away.
