Snowmobiles In 'Acadia National Park'.

'Sand Beach' parking lot. That is the famous 'Beehive' in the background.
I have been going to 'Acadia' in winter, i.e., January/February, for the last few years. Last year I went twice -- once in January & then again in February. I like Acadia in the winter. It is EMPTY. I was again there this past week, Wednesday to Friday. Thursday afternoon, on 'Ocean Drive', I didn't see a car or any humans for well over an hour. A deer ran across the road, 10' away. That is par for the course. Very few people.

Yes, it was cold -- unusually cold. Plus, there was a large snowstorm on Wednesday. Hence the snowmobiles.

I had never seen (or heard) snowmobiles at Acadia prior to this trip.

I found out why.

This was the first time in 8-years that there has been enough snow for them. That came as a surprise. There was snow last year. I guess it wasn't enough.

Wasn't thrilled to see snowmobilers. Noise and the exhaust smell.

I don't think they should be allowed. But it appears that they are allowed in most National Parks.

Came as a surprise to I.

Sharing with YOU so that you now know. I appreciate that not too many visit the Park in the winter.

😇
