'UPDF' PDF Editor -- Lack Of A Virtual Printer For PDF Creation Makes It A Non-Starter For MY USE. But, Real Nice 'Search'.

Yesterday, with my latest book published, I had a little free time to look at 'new' technology for the NEXT book.

I wanted to see IF I can find a newer, 'better' (especially in terms of image resolution) PDF creator.

So, I downloaded & played around a bit with 'UPDF'.

It is CUTE & you can sure create PDFs with it.

BUT, it doesn't have a Virtual Printer -- i.e., you can't 'Print a PDF' (using their software).

I need that capability BECAUSE of all the images I have in my books. I need to be able to specify image quality.

With UPDF I am not sure how I can specify that. That is a bummer. That is a PREREQUISITE for my needs.

I, however, was BLOWN away with their 'SEARCH' options. Real nice. Best I have seen. Great for MY NEEDS. I INDEX by books using SEARCH. (Yep, I know what I am doing).

Given that UPDF is CHEAP ENOUGH I probably will buy with JUST FOR THE SEARCH.

Most likely end up getting 'Soda PDF' for my PDF 'printing' requirements.
