Current Pope, Leo XIV, & His Predecessor Eschewed Homeland. Not So, The Two Prior To That.

American 'Pope Leo' has indicated that he does NOT intend to travel to the U.S. this year, i.e., 2026 -- though there had been some expectations that he might be here to celebrate the '250th Anniversary'.

That is DEFINITELY NOT going to happen. The current D.C. Administration & he are NOT getting along too well.

JUST THINK ...

What IF he was Pope when 'Obama' was President? Both from Chicago. WOW.

So much for what had been for SO LONG feared as the 'White House East' at the Vatican.

No fear of that for now.

Pope Francis also had political issues with his homeland, viz., Argentina. He made a point of boycotting it. Sad.

What is striking is that the previous two couldn't WAIT to make their first trip to the land of their birth.

For 'John Paul II' it was very special & symbolic.

Prior to JP II, making a visit home wasn't really an issue. The 45 Popes prior to JPII were ALL Italian.

Prior to that, post the Byzantium period (& ignoring the Avignon Papacies) Popes, mainly because of logistical issues, rarely travelled abroad.

But, there is still HOPE for Leo.

The next U.S. President could very well be Catholic.

😇
