I Met An 'Apostle' In 'Rochester', NH, Last Week. He Was A Waiter At A Restaurant.

I will NOT mention names or divulge the Restaurant (which was pretty decent). I don't want this in any way to get person.

➖. ➖. ➖. ➖.

I had NEVER met an Apostle before.

I was kind of shocked (& perturbed).

Given all my work as a Papal Historian, I knew that popes (right from the start) stayed well clear of calling themselves Apostles. Instead they, wisely, came up with the notion of Apostolic Succession. So, that was the first thing I asked him about. He admitted that he was no longer a Catholic. He had been a Catholic, for a time, in order to get married.

He was 62. Struck me as incongruous that an Apostle, in his 60s, would be still working as a waiter.

He admitted that he was self-proclaimed.

He felt he had the RIGHT because he had started a ministry ... in Africa which has since extended to Pakistan. He has never been to Pakistan. He established the ministry online!

I am not going much beyond that.

He gave me a Business Card. He checked out his Website. Hhmmm.

I will readily confess he bothered me. And yes, I, REGRET, that I was rude to him on a few occasions making unkind comments. He claiming to be an Apostle (yes) BUGGED me. Yes, I have NO skin in the game. I am areligious & have never been a Christian. So, it makes no difference to me, per se. But, it struck me as disrespectful, presumptuous, arrogant ...

Well, enough said ...

What do YOU think?

Have YOU ever met an Apostle?

IF you really want to know how to meet this Apostle leave me a Comment. OK?

PAX.
