I Never Knew The HUMANE Way To Kill Lobsters -- Until Today.

I have never killed a lobster.

Yes, I eat lobsters & I am quite partial to lobster. But, I had never killed one.

I am a vociferous carnivore, but I don't kill animals either. I get meat that is already butchered. Ditto, lobster. I ask for the Supermarket to 'zap' them. As far as I know, they have never charged me extra for doing so.

I do KNOW that lobsters are BOILED until they die. My wife is from Maine, a daughter of a lobsterman. Her family is from Maine too. They have no compunctions about boiling lobsters. My sister-in-law has twice insisted on boiling lobsters, she brought from home, at our place. I refused to have anything to do with. I was also impressed that my two daughters kept away too.

When I was young, my supposed extremely devout adopted father would take relish is boiling crabs. He really got into it. Standing over the pot, with a wooden spoon, pushing the crabs back into the water. I was never impressed. I wasn't fond of crab -- in those days.

So, until I saw this Facebook post this morning I had never given the topic of killing lobsters, humanely, any thought. I had to go look it up.

Wow. Stabbing them doesn't sound that great either.

I had learnt that lobsters in Supermarket & Restaurant tanks are NOT fed. That bothers me.

Shame ...

But who am I to speak. I eat lobster. I eat meat. 

Yes, over the years, I have tried multiple times to become a vegetarian. Doesn't work. I love meat. Sorry.
