Though there have been some (inevitable) frustrations along the way, by-and-large Roku does what it is supposed to do -- unobtrusively.
Up until about 2 months ago, I always used a Roku box -- typically the newest available.
I have, however, also had a 65" 'TCL' TV with Roku built-in for over 5 years. I didn't trust the Roku software on the TCL.
But, my Roku box started acting up -- slightly.
I decided to bite the bullet & try the Roku software on the TCL TV.
I was pleasantly surprised.
For a start, wireless Roku (i.e., Wi-Fi) on the TCL was 50% FASTER than the WIRED (i.e., Ethernet-attached) Roku box. Yes, all to do with adapter technology.
Moving from the box to the TV was much easier than I expected.
So, I have been rather pleased with my whole streaming setup -- though 90% the only thing I stream is 'Netflix'.
I am sure nothing will change for at least 18 months.
But, after that ....
This deal would NOT be allowed under other administrations. Definite conflict of interest. C'est la vie.
But, I am vaguely optimistic. I am sure if things get bad I can find another way to stream Netflix.
