I did it. I did it. I feel so much better. Such a sense of relief. After nearly 20 years I am NO LONGER using 'WordPress'. Wow. Talk about getting rid of shackles.
I have been using both 'WordPress.com' and self-hosted 'WordPress' for way too long. Yes, WordPress is powerful and is super feature-rich. But that comes with a LOT (& I mean a LOT) of pain & aggravation.
WordPress.com has become dreadful. It used to be so helpful & fun. Now all they want is money, money, money & more money. Also authoritarian to the point it would make Kim Jong Un blush. Their way or no way -- & it is all done via really, really DUMB bots. I am through. Can't take the aggravation. Too old. Not enough time & patience.
I don't even want to go into the absolute hassle of self-hosted WordPress. Just a money pit. Pay for the Hosting. Pay for backup. Pay for security -- & you still end up spending hours dealing with attempted hacks. I am sure WordPress hacks its own sites to get us to buy more of their protection. Well, I am done.
I am surprised how quickly I ran away. Yes, I totally obliterated a rather good & valuable blog. But it was worth it for I. Just couldn't take the aggro.
I started checking out 'Google Sites' about a year ago. I was impressed how easy it was to use -- & even hook it up to a custom domain name. Yes, of course, a bit light on features, but it has just about enough. Ditto 'Blogger'. I had messed around with Blogger way, way back. Those days I was young, ambitious and had lofty goals. These days Blogger is FINE. Good enough. SMILE.
I genuinely recommend you try SITES & BLOGGER out. Everything on this site/blog is now all 100% Google -- Sites & Blogger. OK? Smile.
