Pope Francis, Soon To Be 88, Is The SECOND OLDEST KNOWN Pope.

 

So, he (i.e., Francis) had to go past 87.83 years of age to leapfrog Clement XII to reach the coveted #2 spot.

He did that a few weeks ago in mid-November 2024.

So he is ALREADY the SECOND OLDEST KNOWN Pope.

As I explain in the image 🔝'known' (& as of 1400) are important. There might have been older popes -- but we can't be sure. We don't know when they were born.

But, SECOND OLDEST since 1400 is still cool.

I like it that the current pope is the SECOND OLDEST -- known. Wow. In my lifetime.

Also note that the last TWO popes, i.e., Benedict XVI & John Paul II, also make the list at #5 & #8.

Benedict XVI was 90 when he died. So, he would have been the second oldest IF he hadn't resigned so early.
