>> Mesmerizing, vibrant, soaring, melodic, uplifting, non-stop wall of sound.
>> A very long, drum solo in the second half has to be, by far, the most amazing I have ever heard. It was INCREDIBLE.
>> The audience loved it. Most were on their feet, dancing or swaying for the entire duration of what was a LONG conert, 2.5 hours of music, with minimal (& I mean minimal) talking. [I have been told that this was the same at 'Grateful Dead' concerts -- very little talk, all music).
>> It is patently obvious that Zach & his very talented & dedicated group of 4 others, just love to play -- play because they are into the music. You could tell that this was a labor of love. Yes, they were getting paid, but that seemed incidental. They just loved playing.
>> I only know & like ONE 'G.D.' song, viz. "Uncle John's Band". Though they didn't play it, I enjoyed the whole 2.5 hour set. Amazing.
>> Very talented. Very dedicated.
Bravo. Thank YOU, Zach.
👍👍👍👍👍
I doubled checked when I got home. Grateful Dead weren't as BIG in Britain as they were in the U.S. Plus, in late 1960s into the late 1980s, I was into Britain's rather popular 'Electric Folk' bands. So, I was never into the G.D. I don't regret it. Plus, I was never into drugs & was never impressed by overt displays of drug usage. That said, I was curious to see this group. Glad I did. It was an experience.
90% of the audience, 50% in tie-and-dye, stood up as soon as the first bar sounded. They were on their feet for the duration. They loved it. That was neat to see. I like that.
I think having this so soon after Christmas was bad timing. Only around 350 folks (tops). The balcony was closed, and only about 1/3rd of the orchestra level seating was occupied. That is a shame. They deserved a full house.
So, I was impressed. I enjoyed it. Zach is personable. I spoke to him briefly after the show. Glad he is local, i.e., from Vermont.
