This appeared on my Facebook feed this morning. WOW! I was taken aback. I know the hotel -- & particularly THIS CANOPY -- well. I have walked underneath it many a times -- a few times exactly a year ago during my last February visit to Acadia. [I didn't go in Feb. this year (for a change) because I had gone at the very end of Jan.]
This is one of the fancier 'grand' hotels in Bar Harbor -- albeit the one furthest from downtown.
President Obama, the ONLY sitting president to have visited Acadia, stayed at the Regency (with his family & dog) during their July 2010, 2-night visit.

I did not think they were open in the winter. They certainly have not been over the last few years. I know. I amble through their lot during my morning & night ambles when I am there. I stay at the 'Atlantic Oceanside' the next hotel over (towards Downtown). They are open year-round & I am so used to staying there. It is like a second home.
Last year they had a huge pontoon boat parked under that canopy.
Not sure what somebody was doing underneath it at 6:45am this morning. That was just about sunrise. Possible they were doing work on the hotel & he was a workman.
We should get more details soon.
Shame.
