Did People Buy That Many Cars This Weekend To Beat The New Trump Tariffs?

As I spell out in that post, I had been hoping to buy a 'Cadillac XT4' around October of this year, as the warranty on my 2021 'Volvo XC60' (with 32,000 miles at present) comes to an end at 4-years (though I should still be well under the 50K miles limit).

I had not realized that the XT4 & the XT5 had been discontinued in November of last year -- well ahead of these tariffs. It is possible that things might change with the tariffs, i.e., they extend production.

I was, however, told by a dealer that they expect (again before the tariffs) to keep on getting delivering of new XT4s well into the summer. She even thought that I would be able to get a new one in September or October! Wow.

So I have been idly monitoring XT4 inventories over the last two weeks to see what is happening.

I have focused on this one particular dealer, in Maine, because they are one the LARGEST Cadillac dealers around.

The inventory of 5 (above) hasn't changed. None sold, no new ones delivered (or in transit).

Yes, it is VERY POSSIBLE that they have been SO BUSY that they haven't had time to update the Website. That might be the most likely scenario.

But, I will keep on monitoring.

If the current tariffs stand, I am NOT sure I would buy an XT4!

I might be better off LEASING a Japanese SUV. They retain their value more making leases more attractive.

Well, I will keep you posted. Stay tuned. 😇
