Gautama Buddha's Teaching On The Impermanence Of Life.

Full glorious bloom to start of decay in a week.

This is WHY Buddhists offer fresh flowers as an offering when they worship at a temple or shrine.

If they KNOW their Buddhism (& alas many don't) they are supposed to appreciate that they are not offering the fresh flowers for their BEAUTY. Actually the opposite. When offering the flowers you are supposed to think about their SHORT LIFE SPAN. How they will wither & be dead in days. Supposed to make YOU think. Realize the Impermanence of life -- YOUR LIFE. We all with wither & die some day, just like the flowers. A good message.

When I see flowers dying, on their stalk, within a week of being in bloom I think of the Buddhist teaching -- NOT that I need to be taught it or be reminded of it.

Just sharing this with YOU.

I am no longer a Buddhist. I have NOT been a Buddhist for over 50 years but I still remember the key teachings -- especially the ones that have real meaning (such as this).

I am hoping that you find it of some use & interest.
