ICC World Test Championship FINAL, South Africa vs Australia -- I Really, Really Enjoyed It.

That South Africa, my FAVORITE cricket team (though I have never been to South Africa or have any South African connections) won was a BONUS.

I think I like them because the TEAM radiates camaraderie, esprit de corps, mutual respect for each other, & unvarnished joy at playing cricket. In my eyes it is TRULY the ONLY RAINBOW cricket team in the world. It, daily, fulfils Nelson Mandela's vision & hope. In them I see no color barriers. [I could be wrong.]

For the first 2.75 days I had given up on them. I was ready for another disappointment. I was used to that.

To I this was quintessential Test cricket. Tight, well-fought.

And the bowling by BOTH sides. Wow. What a treat.

I had missed GOOD Test cricket.

Yes, T20 & the IPL was fun. But, I have watched TOO MUCH T20. I wanted some serious cricket.

Growing up there was NO T20. The SHORTEST form of the game was 40 overs a side.

This was a good match -- a genuine match. Hard fought.

Bravo. Thank YOU. I loved it. I would have liked longer innings, with bigger scores BUT this was OK. It was fun & nail biting.
