'Revels North' [New Hampshire] Will CLOSE SHOP, For Good, After Last 'Midwinter Revels' On Dec. 21, 2025.

I have distinctly mixed feelings about this. It is SAD, but it was also painful to see their continual decline & pain. I did the LITTLE BIT I could to try & help over the last few years. But it had become a lost cause & they, alas, have finally recognized & acknowledged that. Shame. Pity. But, evolution at play. Survival of the fittest & those better at adapting to change.

(Cambridge) 'Revels' -- the MOTHERSHIP as I like to call them -- 110 miles away as the crow flies continues to flourish. Yes, different dynamics & very different demographics. But BOTH organizations USED to have one thing very much in common. They were both tethered to famous, top-notch schools. Revels North to Dartmouth, & Cambridge Revels to Harvard.

For reasons they never adequately explained, c. 2016, Revels North distanced themselves from Dartmouth. I have heard both sides blame each other. But that breaking of the strong tie they had at Dartmouth -- & stop PERFORMING at Dartmouth's HOP -- was the beginning of the end. They were never the same again. The HOP is a world class venue. Revels at the HOP was an event. I should KNOW. I had been to at least 15 of them!

I love Midwinter Revels. I go to AT LEAST ONE, faithfully, every year. My year is not done until I attend MY Revels.

For the last 10 years or so I have been going to Cambridge. So much so that 'they', including THE STAR, 'David Coffin', knows me. I am such a fixture.

But, I got my introduction to Revels, in 1998, from Revels North -- at the HOP. Loved it. Was hooked.

Started going every year. c. 2105, we liked Revels so much that we went to BOTH -- the HOP & Cambridge. Yep, two a year. I did so a few years ago too.

Revels North 2015 show was OK. I remember it. THAT IS THE SHOW they are reduxing this December.

After 2015 Revels North was in decline.

We stopped going to Revels North. We went just to Cambridge.

Then this ....

A shame. I feel bad for them.

I think it didn't have to come to this.

But, not my call. I tried to help.

I wish them the BEST.

I plan to attend their last show on December 21, 2025.
