Wow. It is a route I have travelled OFTEN to visit MY 'Bold Coast'. Yes, I have seen some poverty BUT I can't say I encountered any homeless.
But now they are talking about it, I am NOT surprised.
House prices in Maine have been CRAZY since COVID -- though I think they are starting to moderate now.
It is also fair to note that there aren't, in the scheme of things, that many houses along this stretch -- & any within spitting distance of water will be over-priced.
There is NO mention of what the homelessness situation is on 'Mount Desert Island', i.e., around the MAIN BODY of 'Acadia National Park'.
Again, I have NOT seen any homeless folks per se. But, I can't be sure. Some supposedly live in cars.
On my future trips I will keep my eyes open.
Not sure what we can do.
I just wanted to bring this to YOUR attention. OK?
😔
