Today, Sept. 22, 2025 Is The Autumnal (September) EQUINOX In New England -- But, NO, We Didn't Get Equal 12 Hours Day/Night.

Yes, today is the EQUINOX.

Another day, like the Summer Solstice that makes me SAD. Why, days continue to get SHORTER. I hate that. I like LONG DAYS.

For us, as you can see from the chart, today does NOT mark when we have EQUAL 12 hours of day & night. 

Some arcane technical reasons for that -- key among these being that the Sun is a BIG body & measurements depend on whether you are timing the top of it, the middle or an average (etc.). Don't let it worry you.

On the 25th, 3 days from now, we are closer to the desired 12 hours each split.

But we are on the slippery slope. Days are getting noticeably shorter. I hate that.
