‘The Beans of Egypt, Maine’ & ‘Graham Platner’: Is There Some Hypocrisy?

I do NOT know 'Graham Planter' other than what I have seen/heard of him in the media.

I have no idea whether the all the RECENT allegations about him are true.

His Nazi tattoo did/does bother me.

I have to honor that he is a 4-tour VETERAN. That has to count. That has to mean something.

I think it is cool that he is an oyster farmer. Way COOL.

I do NOT condone any abuse of females. I have 3 daughters, one still quite young. I worry about their safety.

I have a fair amount of relatives-in-law in Maine.

As some of you know I spend a lot of time in Maine & have been doing so for 23 years.

I have written 7 books on Maine.

So, all told, I don't live in Maine, but have a good grasp of many things Maine.

I have read THE BOOK. I was shocked.

I talked about it with a NATIVE Mainer -- the Head Librarian of a very successful Maine Library.

He told me that Mainers consider the book a TREASURE. They LIKE the book. They can relate to it, etc.

Plus, just in the last few days I have been looking, online, at CRIME RATES in Maine.

Based on all of that, I just have one thought. Shouldn't Mainers cut Graham Planter more slack?

But I am NOT a Mainer. 😇
