This article popped up on my 'Google News' feed. I was mildly curious because I had been THINKING about a 'Cadillac XT4' or a 'Buick Envision' mainly because they offered LARGE, fancy infotainment systems. I like a good, LARGE infotainment system in my main vehicle given the long distances I drive in a day.
This story cracked me up.
I had many of these issues, for 2-years, on my 2021 'Volvo XC60'. It drove me nuts. I hated that car & still do. Yes, over the last year it has got much better, BUT I can't forget the NIGHTMARE it was for 2-years ... losing audio, screen going black, maps not working, etc. etc.
The problem is the 'Google' 'Android Automotive' (different from 'Android Auto') software that GM has embedded in these vehicles to offer native 'Google Maps' etc. This Google software sucks.
The 2021 Volvo XC60 (which I leased) was one of the FIRSTs to have this Google software. Hence ALL the problems I experienced for 2 years -- & I was not alone as I found out on many a forum.
Well Volvo & Google managed to make the system somewhat usable in the last year.
Seems funny that Google, having learnt its lessons at Volvo, has not been more adroit in fixing these issues for GM.
Well, as things stand I do not plan to buy a GM vehicle anytime soon.
😇
